How to Choose the Best AC Installer

Monday, June 18th, 2018

Service Personnel with a CustomerIt’s that time of year again—summer is officially here and temperatures aren’t letting us ignore that. As such, we hope you already have a well-maintained and highly efficient air conditioner in place. If you don’t, however, and if it’s time for you to get a new one, then we urge you to contact our professional Los Lunas HVAC contractors.

But why is it so important to only trust a pro?

Well, first off, you want to ensure that you’re getting the right type and right size air conditioner for your home. Did you know that too large of a system can be just as detrimental as too small of one? Too small of an air conditioner obviously cannot adequately cool the space in which it is installed, but too big of one will go through a process called short-cycling. This means it will turn off and on in short, rapid cycles and cause the AC system to work harder than it should have to in order to do its job—inefficiently so.

Okay, so we told you why it’s important to hire a pro—but how do you find the best pro? Here are some qualities to look for:

Can Excess Humidity Hurt Your Air Conditioner?

Monday, June 4th, 2018

HVAC vent on wallIn a word, yes.

But we don’t expect you to take that answer at face value. Instead, consider this—humidity is the excess moisture that comes with high summer temperatures are all too familiar with. This moisture makes us uncomfortable, and essentially the only way it dissipates is by lowering the temperature. So, we turn on our air conditioning in Los Lunas, NM, and set them to the lowest possible temperature, making them work harder and harder as summer progresses.

As a result, your air conditioner is strained and accumulates damage. Plus, the humidity isn’t effectively removed, and you’ll still be uncomfortable!

Breaking Down the Cost of a New Central AC System

Monday, May 21st, 2018

air conditioner sitting on pile of moneyAs spring progresses and summer quickly approaches, our temperatures are already reaching a point that we need our air conditioners on a regular basis. Soon enough, you’ll depend on it to keep you comfortable each and every day. If you’re using a central air conditioning system, you’ve hopefully already had maintenance performed on it to ensure that the entire system is clean, parts that need it are adjusted, and any repair needs that exist are on your schedule.

But, what if you were told, or you suspect, that it’s time to replace your cooling system? Well, we encourage you to take some time with this decision as you don’t want to rush out and buy the cheapest AC system you can find—but getting the biggest one your budget can handle may be just as detrimental to the overall performance of the system throughout its service life.

The Signs of a Struggling Air Conditioner

Monday, April 23rd, 2018

top view of an air conditionerWe all know how hot and sticky our summers can get, with temperatures making our environment downright unbearable during the middle of summer. That being said, it’s absolutely essential that you have a fully efficiency and effective air conditioner to get you through spring and summer.

If you haven’t already scheduled cooling system maintenance for your AC, then now is definitely the time to do so. Getting your system maintained every spring is the best way to ensure that you can avoid costly repairs. Of course, if your air conditioner is aging then no amount of maintenance will help last forever, just as no amount of repairs will prevent AC replacement in Rio Rancho, NM, if your system is a decade old or older.

How to Use Your New Air Conditioner Most Efficiently

Monday, March 26th, 2018

house outline in natureThe expert installation of a quality home comfort system, such as an air conditioner, is absolutely essential for our hot and muggy summers. You shouldn’t just have to settle for “bearable,” either, you should be comfortable!

There are a number of options when it comes to your air conditioner installation. You might want to stick with the traditional central air conditioning system, or maybe you want to look into the benefits of a year-round heat pump or ductless system. Installation is just the beginning, though. If you want your air conditioner to work as efficiently as possible, you have to care for it properly, and consider the following best practices during operation.

Why Convert Your Swamp Cooler?

Monday, October 23rd, 2017

swamp-cooler-roofYou’ve been using your home’s swamp cooler for a long time. You’ve come to rely on it…well, for the most part. But there are some times when you walk into a store air conditioned with refrigerated AC, and you simply feel a sense of relief. If you ever have the feeling your swamp cooler simply isn’t delivering the quality of cooling you deserve, you’re not alone.

More and more people in our service areas are ditching their swamp coolers for refrigerated air conditioning. Is it worth converting to standard central AC (or a ductless system) for you?

Upgrade Your AC Before It Cools Off

Monday, September 25th, 2017

ac-unit-money-pileBuying an air conditioner tends to be a process you don’t want to deal with. An air conditioner is known as a “distress purchase,” something you buy only in a time of need. You cannot get by in Albuquerque without air conditioning, and it makes more sense to replace the entire system right away when you’re dealing with near 100° heat.

However, as the temperatures begin to drop, you might feel that replacing the air conditioner is not such an urgent job. We’re here to tell you that, with fall coming up, you shouldn’t wait any longer to replace the AC system.

How to Find the Most Efficient AC Installation for Your Home

Monday, September 11th, 2017

air-conditioner-yard-condenserOften, people don’t go searching for a new air conditioner until it has broken down completely. Air conditioners, plumbing components, and other necessities are known as “distress purchases,” purchases made during periods of need, rather than something you buy because you want the latest and greatest gadget. We think it’s time to rethink this way of buying a new AC system.

Rather than buying a new air conditioner in a hurry, likely picking the least expensive option a technician offers, we think it’s important to take some time to find the most efficient AC installation for your home. That means spending some time learning what makes an air conditioner efficient and speaking to the right technicians for the job. See what we mean!

Here’s Why It’s So Important to Change Your Home’s Air Filter

Monday, August 28th, 2017

technician-changing-filterIt’s okay for the average homeowner to know little more than the bare minimum about their air conditioning and heating systems. You may not know how a compressor works or the science behind refrigeration, but that’s okay! (And kudos if you do know.)

Still, there is one part of your air conditioning system (and heater) you should know about. Your home’s air filter is something that seems to have little effect on your comfort unless you’re worried about allergies or asthma, but there’s more to it than this consideration.
